2012 Events

  • Chanakya Chess Club (C.C.C) and Neptune Magnet Mall, organizined an One day Open Rapid tournament on 8th july with a cash prize of 50000 and gifts worth 4 lakhs. A record 105 International rated plaayers participated in the tournament alongwith 3 International Masters. The total participation was 250!!

  • Chanakya Chess Club (C.C.C) and Neptune Magnet Mall, organizined an One day Rapid tournament for the blind on 30th June. The event was supported by All India Chess federation for the blind and Neptune Foundation.

    The event was one of the biggest in India in terms of cash prizes and gifts provided to the participants. Every participant was given a 2 night and 3 Day holiday voucher anywhere in India.

    The event was blessed by Mr. Charudatta Jadhav who is one of the key members of All India Chess federation for the blind.


  • Chanakya Chess Club (C.C.C) and Neptune Magnet Mall, organizined an Inter-School Chess Championship “Dhananjay Ramraje Memorial Chess Championship” on 23rd June and 30th June. This was considered as selection for state level tournament. Top 4 participants in each group were given free entry to their respective state level tournaments.

    A total cash prize fund of 1 lakh alongwith gifts worth 13 lakhs were awarded to 170 prize winners. This was possibly one of the biggest tournaments to be organized in India.

    BCA conducted the event separately for Boys & Girls in the age groups of U-7, 8, 9, 11,13, 15, 17, 19 & 25 & 16.

    The Highlight of the Tournament was the visit of the international icon Ronald McDonald (McDonald’s famous Mascot): which spiced up the event and had children and adults all vying to be photographed with him. A once in a lifetime opportunity, as he travels the world over spreading joy and the fun of McDonalds….. According to Ronald, This is the first time he has ever visited a mall during a Chess Tournament, which is probably also the First time in any mall in the country.:


  • Chanakya Chess Club (C.C.C), affiliated to Bombay Chess Association (BCA) organizined an Inter-School Chess Championship on 21st April, 2012. BCA conducted the event separately for Boys & Girls in the age groups of U-6, 8, 10, 12 & 16

This was the 3rd edition of “Mega Chess Festival”. BCA conducted the event separately for Boys & Girls in the age groups of U-6, 8, 10, 12 & 16

MEGA CHESS FESTIVAL

  • Mega Chess Festival, 2010, hosted by Oberoi International School was highly appreciated as a venue for its amazing Hall and the Cafeteria of a World class level which was used as a waiting area also.


  • Mega Chess Festival 2009 attracted a huge crowd of 700 participants. World Junior Girls Champion Ms. Soumya Swaminathan was the Chief Guest. She also played Simultaneous versus 25 players. The event was sponsored by Podar Enterprise. A Total Bounty of cash prize of 1.60 lacs was the highest Prize Fund in India for a local event.
